A few observations about Malta, an amazing combination of old world architecture and new world sensibilities - People were really really friendly there, probably some of the friendliest people that I've met so far in Europe - Saturday was the Feast of St. Paul which was like a combination of religious fanatics and football-crazed fans, chanting at a statue of St. Paul, followed by a parade and then a crowded mass. - Almost continued Hamish and mine's string of good luck when it comes to weekend trips and good weather. I say almost because it rained on us on Friday night.
Just got back from Malta, an island off the coast of Sicily. The island is a very interesting place as its a world UNESCO heritage site containing some of the oldest man-made structures in the world, from 3400 BC but also contains many nightclubs catering to some of the youngest-looking drinkers that I've ever seen. Recap to come as soon as I can get my connection to upload pics to Imageshack.
And just as I've been complaining about not having any places to go, my work travel schedule has been loading up with proposed trips to Denmark, Poland, and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the upcoming trips to Cincy and Brazil.
It's starting to look more and more like my European journey will probably be coming to a close within the coming year for a few personal and career reasons. So in the meantime, I'm going to milk my time in Europe for all that its worth. So here's the plan for the next few weeks.
1 day until Euskirchen 2 days until Malta 8 days until Chicago
And then there are some plans for Scandinavia and Brazil in the works. But I still need to make it to Paris at some point too.
Places that I'd like to go before leaving: Egypt, Budapest, Istanbul, Cyprus, Estonia, Croatia, and the Greek Islands.
Last night, I went to Offenbach to go see Snow Patrol in concert. I've liked them for a while ever since their Final Straw album (left) came out because I liked the moroseness and moodiness of their music. However since then, they've been featured on the TV show, Grey's Anatomy, seemingly during every single scene where one of the girls is laying in a bed either by herself or with someone else, which pretty much happens about every 2-3 minutes in that show.
