Asian American Expatriate in Frankfurt, Germany!

December 2nd, 2006

It's always been my dream to take over the world in such a way that everyone knew that I was in control but without having to actually take over the world through violence, something subtle like Pinky and the Brain. I've come up with a way to take over at least Germany for time being, while I'm here.

Last year, I spent Thanksgiving stacking boxes for the company for a special manufacturing training. In keeping with the new Euro lifestyle, I decided to skip the turkey again and go visit another Euro destination. Unfortunately, I had already made plans and couldn't go to the blogger meetup in Bonn. Instead, I went to London and Barcelona. More details after the jump. And yes, that's a goat's head from the Barcelona mercantile.

Everyday, we have to make decisions that will impact some part of our life. These decisions can have huge repercussions down the road, shaping our personality and our perspective on life. Today was not that sort of day. Today, I was faced with the decision of what sort of free dinner (what a life) I wanted to have. One options were dinner at a Chinese restaurant near the Romer for a diversity group from work. The other option was a home-cooked, German dinner at a friend's house. On the one hand, its been a long, long time since I've had Chinese food but then again, this would be Chinese fooed in Germany. No offense but how good could it be? In the other option, I get to learn how to make German food. Definitely much more interesting and possibly useful in the future. So after work, I went over to C's house and there laid out was a table covred with bread, 10-12 different cheeses, and piles and piles of schnitzel, friend golden-brown. So now I'm laying here on the couch, completely stuffed with great food from a great night. I'm so full that my stomach hurts. And the food was sooo good. Anyway, just wanted to share.
