Asian American Expatriate in Frankfurt, Germany!

August 30th, 2006

So another birthday has passed and the birthday wishes keep on coming. First came the friends and now the family has started sending birthday cards and wishes. Sadly I guess I'm too old now such that they don't send any money in the cards.

BTW, I had a conversation with bichen where I told him when my birthday was one day prior and he still forgot. Bastard!!! Although in his defense, I forget when his birthday is too. Hehehe.

Here are the pictures. If you want a recap, check out Hamish's blog. He talked it up for so long that eventually I wanted to go and so off we went. It was everything he talked about and more. But in a nutshell, the place is awesome. And I want to go back someday.

Just got back from a quick weekend trip to Cinque Terre National Park in Italy. Gorgeous. Beautiful. It wasn't enough time. And darn this work thing having to come back for stuff on Monday.

Today was practice where we learned how to row as a team. Since I arrived 5 minutes before we were getting ready to get into the boat, I was volunteered as the drummer. A fact which I found somewhat ironic since I was the only Asian. So basically I like to think that I made this particular dragon boat just a bit more authentic.

August 12th, 2006

It's August 12th and its basically fall now. It was hot two weeks ago and then suddenly, these gray clouds moved in permanently and have set up camp in the sky bringing their 60 degree coldness and their rain. And from the weather reports, it doesn't look like the warm weather is coming back to Germany anytime soon. Oh well.

So goodbye summer. It was short but fun. To paraphrase James Blunt:

Goodbye My Summer
Goodbye My Friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me.
